Starting November 1st 2017, Professor Peter Uhd Jepsen has been appointed Deputy Head of Department at DTU Fotonik.

He replaces Professor Morten Willatzen who has moved his research activities to China after more than 5 years in the position.

Prof. Peter Uhd Jepsen will continue as Section Leader of Nonlinear Optics and Biophotonics and Group Leader of Ultrafast Infrared & Teraherz Science.

Professor Jepsen has a career background at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, University of Freiburg, and came to DTU in 2005. He has been active in the field of THz science and technology since 1993.

His key focus areas include fundamental and application aspects of generation, propagation, and detection of ultrashort pulses of coherent THz radiation, and he holds strong expertise within ultrafast laser optics, THz spectroscopy and imaging, THz-driven nonlinear processes, and optics engineering.

He was elected OSA Fellow in 2016, and is currently participating in “Center for Nanostructured Graphene 2” – a Center of Excellence headed by Prof. Antti-Pekka Jauho (DTU Nanotech) and funded by Danish National Research Foundation.
