Associate Professor Sanshui Xiao from DTU Fotonik has been announced an OSA Senior Member in the class of 2018

The OSA distinction provides well-established researchers recognition for their experience and professional accomplishments within the field of optics and photonics.

To qualify for OSA Senior Membership, individuals must have at least ten years of significant professional experience in the field, an active OSA Membership and two endorsement statements from current OSA Members. The OSA Board of Directors then approves the candidates.

Sanshui Xiao was educated at Zhejiang University in China, where he also obtained a PhD degree in Nanophotonics in 2004. He then joined the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden as a post-doc researcher later that year, and in 2008, he started at the Technical University of Denmark, where he is now associate professor at the Department of Photonics Engineering in the group for structured electromagnetic materials.

His research is mostly centered on nanophotonics, plasmonics, and two-dimensional materials, particularly focusing on study of light-matter interactions at the nanoscale and exploration of advanced optical nanostructures and two-dimensional materials for optoelectronic applications.

He has published 94 peer-review journals with having a citation of 2100 and a h-index of 25 (Web of Science). He has co-organized several sessions at PIERS, AME, and EMN conferences, and obtained the European Optics Prize from the European Optical Society in 2008. He also serves the topical editor for Applied Optics.
