Department of Photonics Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark is seeking a candidate for a 1-year (with the possibility of an extension) Postdoc position in the field of light-emitting diodes (LED). This position is going to be involved in a couple of our ongoing projects to have a deep understanding of the light emission mechanisms of donor-acceptor pair recombination in fluorescent silicon carbide, defect emission of porous silicon carbide, and surface plasmon enhanced GaN based green LED etc, by using our newly purchased time-resolved photoluminescence setup. 

Responsibilities and tasks
The selected postdoc candidate will participate in a team of one Postdoc and four PhD. Students, in addition to the participating senior staff. The postdoc will specifically be in charge of our time-resolved photoluminescence setup and provide comprehensive understanding of different light emission mechanisms for our on-going projects.   

The candidate is thus expected to: 

  • Maintain and upgrade our time-resolved photoluminescence setup if necessary
  • In combination with other optical and electrical characterization methods, measure and analyze different light-emitting materials and devices
  • Build-up models and provide theoretical support for enhanced light emission efficiency

  • Supervision of students (PhD. Students, Master Students, special course students, etc.)
Candidates should 
  • Have a PhD degree or equivalent
  • Be fluent in English
  • Have strong background on semiconductor physics, and experience with time-resolved photoluminescence is preferred
  • Could conduct research independently
  • Have good team spirit
  • Be willing to contribute to an expanding team, such as attracting external funding and students

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union. The period of employment is 1 year, starting from July 1, 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter.
