June 2015: Supannee Learkthanakhachon leaves the group to work in industry.

June 2015: Jesper Mørk received 6.4 mill DKK from the Danish Research Councils (FNU) for a project on ”Decoherence in cavity quantum electro-dynamics”. The project will finance two PhD students and one postdoc, and is a joint effort with Niels Gregersen, Nika Akopian and Morten Willatzen.

June 2015: Gyeong Cheol Park et al. have a post-deadline paper “III-V/SOI vertical-cavity laser structure for 120 Gbit/s speed” accepted for the Integrated Photonics Research, Silicon and Nano Photonics (IPR) meeting, to be held in Boston, USA.

May 2015: Masoomeh Taherkhani starts her PhD project.

May 2015: Jesper Mørk interviewed for Politiken on "Da verden så lyset" and "Verdens største maskine kører på lys".

May 2015: Anders Nysteen leaves the group to work in industry.

May 2015: Dagmawi Alemayehu Bekele starts his PhD project on photonic crystal Fano lasers. The project is funded by Villum Fonden via the NATEC Centre.

April 2015: Lecture by Prof. Kurt Busch from the Humboldt University in Berlin.

April 2015: Anders Nysteen defends his PhD Few-photon Non-linearities in Nanophotonic Devices for Quantum Information Technology.

April 2015: The research project Optiske teknologier til fremtidens datacentre, supported by the Danish Innovation Foundation, has started. The project is a collaboration between DTU Fotonik and Mellanox Technologies Denmark, and the PI is Assoc. Prof. Il-Sug Chung.

April 2015: Gyeong Cheol Park et al. publish the paper Hybrid vertical-cavity laser with lateral emission into a silicon waveguide in Laser Photonics Rev.

March 2015: Yi Yu et al. publish the paper Nonreciprocal transmission in a nonlinear photonic-crystal Fano structure with broken symmetry in Laser Photonics Rev.

March 2015: Nika Akopian authors an APS Viewpoint Single Dot Meets Single Ion on the results in a recent Phys. Rev. Lett. paper.

March 2015: Vladimir Topic and Andreas Dyhl Østerkryger start their PhD projects.

February 2015: Yi Yu defends his PhD Photonic Crystal Nanocavity Devices for Nonlinear Signal Processing.

February 2015: Niels Gregersen gives an invited talk at the 8th Annual Meeting Photonic Devices in Berlin, Germany.

January 2015: As part of his PhD studies Jakob Rosenkrantz de Lasson leaves for a 3-months research stay at EPFL with the group of Prof. Eli Kapon.

January 2015: Teppo Häyrynen starts as a postdoc.

December 2014: Innovationsfonden grants 15 mill DKK for a 3-year project "Ultrahigh-speed optical transport module technologies for large data centres". The project is a collaboration between DTU Fotonik and Mellanox Technologies Denmark, and the PI is Assoc. Prof. Il-Sug Chung.

October 2014: Villum Fonden awards 30 mill DKK for a 5-year prolongation of the NATEC Centre of Excellence. The centre is headed by Prof. Jesper Mørk.

October 2014: Yaohui Chen leaves the group to work in industry.

October 2014: Anders Nysteen returns from a 3 month research stay with Prof. Dirk Englund's group at MIT.

October 2014: New paper entitled "Photonic Crystal Fano Laser: Terahertz Modulation and Ultrashort Pulse Generation" published in Physical Review Letters.

October 2014: Guest lecture "Phonon effects in driven cavity quantum dot systems" by Dr. Ahsan Nazir, University of Manchester.

October 2014: Dara McCutcheon gives an invited talk at Quantum Optics VII in Mara del Plata, Argentina.

October 2014: Nika Akopian joins the group as associate professor in experimental quantum photonics.

September 2014: New paper entitled "Slow-light-enhanced gain in active photonic crystal waveguides" published in Nature Communications. The work is covered in Danish at ing.dk.

September 2014: Niels Gregersen co-authors the textbook "Numerical Methods in Photonics".

September 2014: Jesper Mørk presents an invited talk at EOSAM 2014 in Berlin on "Optical Signal processing using Fano effects in photonic crystals".

September 2014: Andreas Dyhl Østerkryger and Stig Salomonsen start on their master projects, with Niels Gregersen as main supervisor and Jakob Rosenkrantz de Lasson as co-supervisor.

August 2014: Anders Mølbjerg Lund leaves the group to work in industry.

August 2014: Niels Gregersen presents an invited talk at PIERS 2014 in Guangzhou on "The photonic nanowire: An emerging platform for a highly efficient quantum light source".

August 2014: Jesper Mørk presents an invited talk at SPIE Optics and Photonics Conference in San Diego on "Theory and experimental demonstration of enhanced gain in slow light photonic crystal waveguides".

July 2014: Niels Gregersen presents an invited talk at Integrated Photonics Research (IPR) in San Diego on "The photonic nanowire: A highly efficient single-photon source".

July 2014: As part of his PhD studies, Anders Nysteen leaves for a 3-months research stay at MIT with the group of Prof. Dirk Englund.

June 2014: Niels Gregersen receives a Sapere Aude research grant from the Danish Research Councils. The topic is Linear Optics Quantum Information Technology, and the grant amounts to 7 million DKK over 3 years. Two PhD students and a postdoc will be hired.

June 2014: Philip Trøst Kristensen presents an invited talk at the Collaborative Conference on 3D & Materials Research in Korea on "Quasinormal modes in optical microcavities and plasmonic nanoresonators".

May 2014: Niels Gregersen presents an invited talk at Photonics North, Montréal, on "Single-photon source engineering using a Modal Method".

May 2014: Dagmawi Alemayehu Bekele joins the group as research assistant.

May 2014: Philip Trøst Kristensen leaves the group to take up a postdoc position in Prof. Kurt Busch’s group at the Humboldt University in Berlin.

March 2014: Our work on random lasing in Anderson-localized modes in photonic crystal structures is published in Nature Nanotechnology. The work has been performed at DTU Fotonik in collaboration with the Niels Bohr Institute.

February 2014: Il-Sug Chung presents an invited talk at Photonics West, San Francisco, on "130-nm tunable grating-mirror VCSEL".

February 2014: Lecture by Prof. Eli Kapon, Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne.

February 2014: Anders Mølbjerg Lund defends his PhD Theory of few-emitter semiconductor nanostructures: Lasing and resonance fluorescence.

January 2013: Per Lunnemann returns from a 1-year research stay with Prof. Femius Koonderink at AMOLF in Amsterdam. Per will continue his research financed by a 2-year postdoctoral grant from the Danish research Councils.

November 2012: Jesper Mørk gives an invited talk at ACP 2012 - Asia Communications and Photonics Conference in Guangzhou, China, on “Integrated photonics enabled by slow light”.

October 2012: Among 11 nominees Jesper Mørk won the prize for PhD Supervisor of the Year.

September 2012: Jin Liu successfully defended his PhD thesis Semiconductor nanomembranes for quantum photonics: quantum light sources and optomechanics.

August 2012: Sara Ek and Troels Suhr Skovgaard both leave the group to take up positions within research and development at the company Foss in Hillerød.

August 2012: Per Kær Nielsen successfully defended his PhD thesis Fundamental properties of devices for quantum information technology

May 2012: Sara Ek successfully defended her Ph.D. thesis Characterization of pulse propagation in photonic crystal structures and ultrafast dynamics in quantum dots.

March 2012: Troels Suhr Skovgård successfully defended his PhD thesis Modeling of Coupled Nano-Cavity Lasers.
