The LED Systems Team's Research Activities

The LED Systems team at DTU Fotonik conducts research and development at component and systems level of LED technology on:  

• Test and characterization of LED components and light systems
• Spectral modeling and design of LED systems
• Modeling of LED optical systems
• Holographic-, micro-optics for LED systems
• Materials and chip level research

Research and development is conducted in close collaboration with research institutes and Danish industry. It covers a wide range of applications of LED technology for optical sensors as well as for general illumination, where the emphasis is on light and design quality.

Education and training is a necessity for the successful implementation of this new lighting technology for various applications. The LED group educates students at bachelor, master and Ph.d.level at DTU. LED courses, lectures and demonstrations are arranged for a broader public, e.g.  designers, architects, electricians, engineers from Danish industry, high school students and others with an interest in LED technology.

The LED group consists of people situated at DTU Fotonik’s locations in Lyngby and at Risø, Roskilde.
