Collaborations with industry and academic institutions in Denmark and abroad are central to DTU Fotonik. We have several fruitful bilateral collaboration agreements with companies and institutions, all with a common goal. In other instances there may be a collaboration between units, creating a center-like collaboraton.
The five Competence Areas at DTU Fotonik span a broad spectrum of professional competencies and skills. In many of these areas DTU Fotonik is among the leading capacities in the world. DTU Fotonik has, since its inception, aquired considerable experience in transferring knowledge to industrial and academic collaborators. DTU Fotonik's knowledge and compentence often contributes to pioneering realizations and innovations.
DTU Fotonik also offers unique facilities such as a 40Gbit/s BER test set valued at 6 mill. DKK; high power lasers; a crystal fibers drawing tower; advanced laser test equipment; development platform for testing of HDTV; experimental networks for evaluating new services, protocols and network architectures. The facilities are accessible for collaborators by concrete agreement. These may involve the usage of specific pieces of equipment or access to whole laboratories, including apparatus.
